I have written a book!!
Well, I have co-written a book with my fabulous fellow mentor Les Gill.
Les and I first met studying for our ILM level 7 qualification in Business Mentoring. We hit it off straight away and regularly chat online – and off – on all aspects of our profession.
We have very different backgrounds and approaches and that is always gives our discussions a real depth. We decided to turn these discussions into a book – both covering 6 key topics, each from our own perspective.
So, what is Addressing the Stag Syndrome about?
There lingers a pervasive view that seeking guidance is a sign of weakness, that a business leader must already have all the answers and must tough it out at the top, alone and isolated. We call this “The Stag Syndrome”.
In the book we challenge this notion, this Stag Syndrome, by demonstrating that professional business mentoring is as crucial for business leaders as coaching and mentoring is for the elite athletes and sports stars. We illustrate how professional mentors provide the scaffolding for success, offering wisdom that catalyses both personal growth and organisational achievement.
We explore the essence of what makes a successful business mentor, identify who can benefit most from such relationships, and clarify the fine line that separates mentoring from coaching.
Further to the core topics defining what business mentors are and what they do, we also look at many of the practicalities of being a mentor to our clients.
Our approach is open, informative and relaxed and the reader is encouraged to be engage with us thought out the pages of the book.
The book is now available to order from Waterstones or Amazon.
We hope you enjoy it and please feedback.
