I’ve been in your shoes

When it comes to finding the right mentor for you, you want someone with the qualifications and professional experience to help you with your challenges. But on top of that, you also need a business mentor who understands you and what you’re going through. As someone who left a 30 year career in financial services to pursue my dream of helping people like you, I know how it feels to start, grow and run a business.

Before making the leap to do my own thing, I worked across a whole host of departments like marketing, product development, research, and strategic planning. I know how all of these areas overlap to create the bigger picture, and I help the people I mentor by bringing that big picture perspective before we chart the details of the next step. So far I’ve worked with over 60 clients, with businesses of all shapes and sizes, and I’ve loved using my experience of overcoming barriers in business to help passionate people piece together their roadmap to success.

Finding your ‘lightbulb moment’

You know that feeling, when everything clicks and you can see the bigger picture for what it really is? I love seeing my clients experience that moment.

I’m fascinated by mindsets, how they work, and how they affect us in business. It’s something I’ve come across in all of my studies and qualifications. All the way from the Degree in Psychology and Masters in Business Administration, right up to my ILM7 in Business Mentoring and Executive coaching.

But I don’t use what I’ve learnt to impose a single, off-the-shelf answer to your problems. I’m your sounding board, there to guide you towards the solutions that fit you and your business.

My approach

My work is guided by my mantra: ‘listen to understand, not to respond’.

I love taking what I’ve learnt and sharing it with clients in a way that’s easy to understand, and that they can take ownership of. Often, the clients I work with just need a sounding board or someone to hold them accountable, and I’m more than happy to be there for them for as long as they need me.

You’ll get a trusted space to talk, rant, share concerns and make decisions, and I’ll be that friendly voice (with a Scottish accent) helping you to reflect back and find your way.

I knew that I loved mentoring people more than anything, so that’s what I decided to shape my business around. Perhaps there’s something you feel like that about at the moment. An idea you’ve stowed away until the ‘right time’, or something you know you want to try but don’t know where to start.
Having gone through the twists and turns of redundancy, striking out on my own, and pivoting a business plan, I know a thing or two about going for it and chasing your dreams. That’s why I’d love to help you on your journey to do the same.

My life

I’m a firm believer that business is a part of life, not your whole life. My life looks like spending time at the gym in spin or body pump classes, spending time with my family (including a mad dog and a fat cat), or enjoying a glass of prosecco with friends.
